High School CYO
Summer isn’t over yet! Let’s make the most of the time we have left. Here is the schedule for the end of July and August (as far as I have it worked out). If you haven’t been coming to activities, now is the time to get started. We are a family in which you just have to be a part.
Weds., July 21- Gym Night for most of us from 7:00 – 8:30. For those in the skit, we will paint our shirts.
Friday, July 23- We need to clean the Spirit House before the trip. If you are available, meet from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.(I’ll double attendance points for this.)
Saturday, July 24th- (Trip participants only) If possible, please come to the 5:30 Mass for a special blessing. Then, meet at 11:30p.m. (TIME CHANGE) in the Murphy Center so we can check ALL bags and carry-ons. Our goal is to be on the road by 12:30. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call me.
Please pray for us as we travel, share our faith, and make new friends.
Sunday, August 8th- We will start our new year with dinner and special activities in the Spirit House. Plan to stay from 6:30 – 8:30. (Again, this is the perfect time to meet everyone, so don’t delay!)
Monday, August 9th- Fr. Jim’s 25th Anniversary Mass and Reception, starting at 6:00.
Weds., Aug. 11th- Prayer Service and activities in the Spirit House from 7:00- 8:30.
Sunday, Aug. 15th- We will be holding our 7th annual Battle of the Sexes Party from 1:00 – 3:00 at the pavilion. Come prepared to have a blast playing silly games, all for bragging rights for the next year. Wear clothes that can get wet and/or dirty. I’d recommend wearing old tennis shoes also. Bring your friends- don’t miss this event!
For those not attending Mc-T this year, we have a High School Religious Education class every Sunday. Traditionally, it has been at 4:15, so everyone can attend the 5:30 Mass. But, we can change it if needed. Please attend the first class Aug. 15th at 4:15. We’ll make a permanent decision then.
Weds., Aug. 18th- The Spirit House is open from 7:00 – 8:30.
Sunday, Aug. 22nd- Canoe trip from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are required no later than Aug. 19th. Cost is $20, plus your permission slip (on the website). Call me at 391-4168 or 661-5130. (You can bring your form and money that day.) Chaperones are needed for this trip! We will meet at the church parking lot and take a bus to the Sunshine Canoe drop-off spot. Bring: a lunch (in a Ziploc bag), 2 drinks, towel, sunscreen. DON’T BRING ANYTHING VALUABLE!
No activity on Weds., Aug. 25th (my 32nd anniversary- what a blessing!)
Sunday, Aug. 29th- Here we go! HAUNTED HOUSE MEETING at 6:30 in the Murphy Center for all teens and parents interested in working on this massive project. The tentative date for building it is Oct. 16 –20, with Oct. 21-23 being the nights we run it. If you have any intentions of having a part in this, please be at this meeting. We need a minimum of 60 teens and 15 parents in order to pull this off. It really does take 2 months to plan and get this together.
