Summer Reading St. Dominic Catholic School
Dear Parents and students,
We hope that you all are enjoying your summer! Each summer the students are required to read a novel and be prepared to take an AR test when they return to school. This summer the students will all read a grade level novel and a book of their choice. While the students are not required to do a project, they should be ready for the AR test and a comprehension test given by the teacher.
The novels for this year are as follows:
6th Grade- The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
7th Grade- Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
8th Grade- Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan
Please note that each student is required to read the grade level novel, as these novels will be the basis of discussion the first few weeks of school. Don’t forget the choice book! By no means are the students limited to only two books this summer, we encourage each student to read as often as they can.
Happy reading and may God bless each of you with a safe and happy summer!
